How do I display negative numbers with brackets

I need to show numbers with brackets around them rather
than with a minus sign - in Excel 2002.

Hi bradsmih!

You need to change your Regional Settings.

Make the change under both Numbers and Currency Tab
Apply your way out.

You'll find that the () then becomes available as an option.

Try a custom number format like the following:

#,##0 ;"["#,##0"]";0

I think you only need to change the currency tab version.

(I was corrected, too!)
