How do I do this - Vlookup?

I need help and hope I can describe my problem in an understandabl
manner.

1. I have a saved worksheet containing two columns, one with codes an
the other with corresponding information to the adjacent code.

2. In another saved Excel document I would like to put in a drop dow
box that lists the first column of the worksheet mentioned above
enabling me to select one of the codes in the list, and consequentl
the adjacent information is then automatically inserted into the cel
next to the chosen code.

I hope this can be understood. If you can help me, I need step by ste
instructions, as I don't have a good comprehension of functions at thi
stage.

I overcame something similar by using 'valiadation' for
drop down list, then a vlookup in adjacent cell (not
forgetting to sort vlookup reference data!!)
