How do I enable access to LDAP server

S

Steve Kelly

I am using Entourage 2004 with Exchange server 2000. I have been able to
make the mail and calendar work with the server. I am unable to access the
Global Address List however.

My IT person is unable (unwilling?) to help as I am the only mac user in the
company.

I have the LDAP server listed as: exchange.companyname.com
(ldap.companyname.com didn't work either).

I do not know what to put in the search base field nor do I know where to
tell the IT person to look to tell me.

I have login required checked.

Can anyone help? Thank you in advance

Try using something like LDAP Probe to check the access to the LDAP
functions. Other tricks you can try include:

1. Don't specify any search base
2. Access the ldap server via ip address. Name resolution may not be
setup or firewalls may be confusing your access. If you can get a
response from the ldap server using a tool like LDAP Probe then you
can experiment to refine the search base you will want to use.

I am having a problem which I believe is related. Same setup;
Entourage 2004 w/ Exchange server 2000. However, in my case I know
exactly the pathname to the LDAP server, have tried putting in the IP
address, triple verified network control panel settings, all that.
I've pinged the LDAP server and verified ports, have all my bases
covered. I send and recieve mail fine, however I cannot access the
Global Address List, and cannot sync my calendar with the rest of the
building. Can anyone shed light?
