how do I fix a forecast date that has passed for a zero value?

I am forecasting a date for a life expectancy(zero value) based on a start
date and initial value with a set of values over a period of readings (yes,
readings have corresponding dates). Zero has not been reached as yet, but
the forecasted date is before today. How do I acheive the correct reading?
