How do I get attachment icon to appear in body of e-mail not in a.

I am running a standalone copy of Microsoft Outlook 2003. I would like to be
able to place icons representing attachments, such as a Word document, in the
body of the message rather than in the attachments header to the message.
This seems like a simple enough task but I couldn't find out how to do it in
Help or in the Tools, Options dialogs.

I don't believe this is possible, but you would do better to ask in an
Outlook NG.

You could probably insert the image as a graphic and hyperlink it to your
document, but the attachment would still be in the header. In any case there
is no point doing this as anyone how has been bitten by an html e-mail
message containing rogue code (and those who have anticipated the problem)
will have their e-mail reader firmly set to read only in text format, where
the image won't display. You have no control over how the messages you post
are viewed. If you want to ensure everyone sees them as intended, use plain
text format.
