how do i get back messages from archives

Hi all,

I need to access some very old email that has aparently been archived. How
is this done? at some point while i was doing some self-help effort i got a
message saying something about archive cannot open because of security on
computer. I figure i was doing it incorrectly.

File>Open>Outlook Data File (or Personal Folders File, depending on Outlook
version).
