How do I get rid of "preparing to install" popup which preceeds e.

In Outlook, 2003 XP, prior to each incoming email, a "preparing to install"
popup box appears and the A drive is briefly accessed. Box closes. The
process repeats for each incoming message. I have used "repair" , uninstalled
and reinstalled.
