How do I get rid of the automatic upper case at the beginning of .

I do a lot of glossary work in various languages and word has the irritating
habit of automatically turning the first letter of the new word into
uppercase each time I move to a different language column. In Word Perfect I
knew where to untick that command but in Word I just can't find it ! Any
suggestion ? Thanks.
