I don't think you can directly do what you want. It sounds like you want to
have the ball sometimes grouped and sometimes not. PPT doesn't let you do
that. However, you can fake it out a couple of ways...
1) Set your ball graphic to have the same animations as Player 2. Reorder
the animations so the ball's animations are always directly after the
player's animations. Set each of the ball's animations to start "With
Previous" (in other words, with the player). You will need to play with the
timing using the advanced timeline to get this one right.
2) Have two balls and two Player 2 graphics. Leave the first ball ungrouped.
Group the second ball with one of the Player 2 graphics. Have both players
visible in their normal spots. Animate the ungrouped ball to move from one
to the other. When the ball arrives at the second player, give it an exit
animation. Give Player 2 an exit animation, set to happen "With Previous".
Give the grouped ball and Player 2 an appear animation and set it to happen
"With Previous". The result will be the ball moves and it seems to land in
the players hand. From there, animate the graphic of the second player with
the ball to show your plays.
Neither of these techniques are going to be quick to implement. They will
likely take some tweaking on the timeline. However, I do believe that you
can use either of them to get the effect you want.
