How do I group by the first three digits of the postalcode

I am using office 2003xp
I would like to group names in contacts by the first three digits of the
postal code.
Can I do this?

Not by the first three digits, but by the entire zip code. Add the
"Zip/Postal Code" field to the header line with the Field Chooser, then
right click and select "Group By This Field"

Yeah. I missed it. I looked for Postcode. Should have remembered the "Zip"
thing.

Even though it seems to be possible to group by Postal Code, I do not see
how you could group by ONLY the first three digits without using an unused
filed for those three digits and then grouping by that surrogate field.
