How do I import an image (business card) into Contacts?

I temped at a firm that actually had images of business cards saved in
Contacts. Does anyone know how to do this?

Scan the cards. Open the Contact record and use | Insert | File | the name
of the picture.

When you scan the business card and save it, what kind of file do you save it?
