I have just upgraded my system from 9.2.2 to Panther.
I have tried toi import my data from the Entourage 9.0.4 to Entourage X but
without any success.
And what is the symptom of this lack of success? Do you get an error
message, or what? Are you correctly choosing the data to import? The
importer says to find the Office 2001 Identities folder in Microsoft User
Data folder: you will need to locate the MUD folder in Documents folder on
your (OS 9) hard disk to find the Office 2001 Identities folder, NOT the MUD
folder in the Documents folder of your OS X User folder which you'll be
using for Entourage X. Did you do that? If you had more than one identity in
Entourage 2001, don't stop with the Office 2001 Identities folder but choose
the actual Main Identity or named Identity folder within it - the Importer
is not precise enough.
OK, once you do that, does it import OK? Or do you get an error message? If
you get an error message, do this:
Open Entourage 2001 while booted in OS 9, holding down Option key, and
choose Advanced Rebuild. If you want to do this in Classic from OS 10.3,
first make an alias (command-option-drag) of the Office 2001 Identities
folder back in [OS 9 Hard Disk]/Documents/Microsoft User Data, in your new
[OS X Hard Disk]/Users/[you]/Documents/Microsoft User Data folder. (If you
ever tried opening Entourage 2001 in Classic already, you'll have to remove
the Office 2001 Identities folder already there before you can drag the
alias from the OS 9 location there.) Now you can open your Entourage 2001
identity. If it opens in a new empty identity, go to File/Switch Identity,
and choose the correct one. Hold down Option key as you open into the
correct identity.
Once the 2001 Identity has been rebuilt, you will be able to import it into
Entourage X. Make sure you choose the correct identity folder to import.
Also, while 2 Mbox files - which it seems I unknowingly crteated before I
transferred my data from my PB Pismo to an add on disk, show on the Ent X
list when imported as such, they show no content.
