How do I insert an mp3 sound file into a slide?

I have used other mp3 sound files but I cannot get this one in. I tried
renaming it and shortening the name. I tried putting it in different
location. This song plays in other programs and media player but will not
insert in this slide. I admit I am new to this but I have inserted 2 other
songs with same format. I am running XP with PP2002

The filename did exceed 128 charc so I changed the name of the file and it
still will not accept it?

I just went back in and trid to add a song I have on a previous slide that
works and it will not let me add even that one ...I only get a message that
says "PP couldn't insert a dound from select file"

It's more than the length of the **filename**. The **full path** includes the
drive letter and the full string of folders and sub-folders and the filename and
that cannot exceed 128 characters, e.g. C:\Documents and Settings\userid\My
Documents\My Pictures\Microsoft Clip Organizer\Pretty examples of tested
pictures\blah\blah\blah\blah.....\j0279616.wmf.

Try moving everything, including the presentation file and other linked files,
to C:\Test and then delete the sound file and reinsert it, pointing to its new
location. Then see whether the music plays. That will be a true test of a
corrected path length.

If you're getting that message, then it's probably not a problem with the path
length.

Not all MP3's are equal. Where did these particular files come from? Did you
change the file extension from something else?
