how do I make a new autoshape?

I want to make a brand new autoshape that I can add text to, re-colour etc.
Can that be done?

Draw the autoshape, then right click on the autoshape and click add text. To
change the color, right click on the autoshape and click format autoshape.
Change your fill and line colors there. Is that what you want?
