How do I make and IE popup flash in the taskbar?

I'm implemeting a html chat where private conversations are opened in
secondary windows (using the window.open method). Is it possible to flash
the private chat windows in the taskbar when new messages are received?
(similar to MSN Messenger).

If not, what other methods of notification do you suggest?
