How do I make Finder preferences permanent?

Spat

Every time I restart my 20" iMac 1.25 GHz running Tiger with 768 MB of RAM I
have to reset the stupid Finder's view options so that the Size column in
Finder windows calculates all file & folder sizes. Is there a way to make
that permanent so I don't have to re-set it every time I restart?

Also, in the Finder's Preferences there's a pref under the Advanced tab to
"Show all file extensions", but in Finder windows there are tons of
documents that don't show the file's extension. Why is that, and how do I
make it work right?

Thanks.

This is a newsgroup for Microsoft Entourage. You need a Mac OS X newsgroup.
