How do I pause a slideshow and switch to Demo mode?

I have a prepared Powerpoint demo which instructs me to switch from slideshow
to demo mode. How do I do that?

You may need to ask the person who prepared the demo what they mean, but I'd
probably hit Esc to see the file in Normal (editing) view.
