how do i position clipart and text boxes in the right place?

When creating a greetings card, not using templates, how do i position the
graphics and text boxes in exactly the correct place so that i dont have to
keep printing the card out several times to check the positioning? When the
printout is folded twice, each graphic or text box needs to be in each
quarter of the sheet, in the right place, invariably it isnt so i have to
change its position and print it out again until it looks ok. any ideas ?
