How do I prevent contact forms from converting to *.msg format?

We made a custom form based on the native contact form. This form is emailed
throughout our office and edited for orders. Some of the forms are somehow
getting converted into an *.msg format and all of the associated data is
lost; the icon converts from the contact icon to a generic white envelope
that cannot be opened by any application.

Are you working with Microsoft Exchange as your mail server? If not, make
sure that each person has each other person entered in their Contacts folder
with the person's email address set to "send in rich text format."

What procedure are you using to send the contact form items around? Where is
the form published?

I'm having the same problem with the default contacts. When I try to send a
contact to a coworker on a different exchange server, they receive it as a
..msg and the info isn't sent. The same thing happens when she sends contacts
out to others. I am able to send them correctly to others on my exchange
server. Could it be the other person's .pst folder that's causing the
problem?

To send to someone on a different server (presumably outside your
organization), you need to attach the contact to a rich-text format message
and make sure the recipient's address is marked for RTF.

Alternatively, send them a vCard.
