How do i repair a flicking screen?

When my screen begins to flicker for a few minutes, it results in a loss of
the graphics for my entire computer. I performed a full-system virus scan
(nothing), defraged, and removed unnecessary program files.

HOW DO YOU FIX THE FLICKING SCREEN? Could it be my graphics card? Is there a
way to test this theory?
