How do I search and autoreplace a field (i.e. phone) in contacts?

Any way apart from export (Excel) ->find/replace ->import?

You can do it more easy using "Find and Replace" component from MAPILab
Toolbox. The program has a trial period, so, you can change all your
contacts without paying for the component.
