How do I select names out of a distribution list?

I am using Microsoft Office Outlook 2003. I have a large distribution list
that at times I would like to be able to select certain names from this
distribution list to send emails to. How can I select and insert only the
names I want to send to and place those selected names into the "To" window
without changing the original distribution list?
