The program doesn't seem to have many problemswith hotmail.com but it seems
lost with hotmail.co.uk
Information scattered around the internet is is confused and in consistent.

would it be hard to add this info in 1 legitimate clear consise way and place?

I don't know if the UK version has the same situation as the US one but ...
since late September 2004, you can no longer use OE to access your Hotmail
for new accounts. If you already were doing so, you're "grandfathered" in. I
took over an existing Hotmail account but because I hadn't set it up prior
to that cutoff date (missed it by about two weeks), I have to read it thru
the web.

Thank you JoAnne,
This must be (and does seem to be) the answer, well done you!
My older hotmail accounts do work and the newer one does't.
Slightly ironic as the new hotmail.co.uk is a pretty new thing so NONE of
them will work for us UK (YUK) folk with office outlook!!!!! but in the uk
we are SO used to paying over the odds for things that other countries get
for free or half price ( adobe products in mind! £1500 or $1500 'ish'! for
the creative video suite, i know which one i would like to pay!)
Would you happen to know if gmail is affected by this same rule?
If so i reckon hotmail will be sacked in favour of gmail !!!!!!!!!
Also JoAnn if gmail does work then you could forward any mail to your
hotmail account to a gmail account and pick that account up IF GMAIL WORKS
and if that function is avasilabe!!!!
Anyway u may know this already! just tryin to be helpful back !

Thank you thank you thank you
Merry Christmas

I also have a Gmail account. Actually I have about 6 or 7 email addresses,
including my work addy. I'm okay with things the way they are now. Four (or
is it five?) come thru OE, 2 extra Hotmail accounts plus my Gmail. And then
work email is done thru Exchange. EEK! That's NINE email addresses! But I'm
only one person...............no wonder I'm forever checking my email!

Gmail is a different critter. It came about after the Hotmail change and
have nothing to do with each other. I've been told that Gmail works fine
with OE but I use the Gmail Notifier and since I'm always online, it's fine
for me. If you can get Hotmail set up to forward everything to Gmail and
then accessed that thru OE, it should work. I just don't know how you could
set Hotmail up to forward automatically tho. Might be easier to start
notifying people about your new Gmail address. ;-)

You can access Hotmail, Yahoo, etc. accounts with 3rp party software. I use
FreePOPS which, as the name indicates, is free.

It's quite easy to setup, you must start it before checking your Hotmail
account or you can place it in the startup folder.

Here's the URL: http://www.freepops.org/en/

There are others but I've not tried them.
