How do I stop the date automatically changing after I've typed it.

For example, I type "7 September 2004" and when I press enter what has
appeared is "7 September 2004-09-07". How do I turn this off. I am using
Microsoft Office Word 2004.

G'day "Gila" <[email protected]>,

Wow - a Word version I haven't heard of :) Usually this is done by
your Tools > Autocorrect settings.

Either the poster got the version year wrong or is on a Mac. Office 2004 is
the new Mac version, that's too bad you haven't even *heard* of it, Steve.
:)

If Gila is still checking back:

Under Tools | AutoCorrect, AutoText tab, uncheck the box about "show
AutoComplete tip" or make a habit of hitting space before hitting enter.

Assuming you are on a Mac:
