How can I use powerpoint to take a screenshot of a weird popup I'm trying to
get rid of?

Why would you want to use PowerPoint to do this? The simplest way to take a
screen shot is to hit the Print Screen button on your keyboard. Then, you
can paste the resulting picture into something. I suppose that something
could be PowerPoint. Just open PowerPoint and choose Paste from the Edit
menu.

Is the popup in powerpoint? To take screenshot, you can use print screen on
your keyboard, then paste it in PowerPoint.

If it is its own window, try using ALT+PRINTSCREEN to capture it. Then you
can press CTRL+V in most programs to paste it.
