How do I view the toolbar in Power Point viewer

D

Denis

I cannot get the nifty new toolbar that appears in the slide preview in PP
2003 to appear when I view it in the Power Point Viewer. Any clues please.

That is because the viewer is just that, a viewer for the presentation, and
nothing else. Sorry

The viewer is for showing presentations only. You can not build from it.

Thanks Bill. Then why, when the slide show is built in 2003, and the toolbar is present on each slide in the 2003 preview, is the toolbar not visible when the same slideshow is viewed in the PPviewer??? Denis

Bill, I wonder if by using the term "Toolbar" I am causing confusion. I really should have said Slideshow toolbar-that which appears in the bottom LH corner of the slideshow. Sorry about that. Denis.

Let's make sure we are on the same page.

In the full version of PowerPoint, you experience is that, when you start
the slide show, you are able to see toolbars? I do not mean in edit view, I
mean in slideshow view. This would be different than normal behavior. Are
you running a macro or VBA add-in?

The viewer program is designed to allow someone without the full version to
see a presentation. It does not support VBA or macros, so any menus based
on those would be missing. It replicates the Slideshow view only, not the
edit view.

How does the Slideshow view (after starting the slideshow with F5) in the
full version and the Viewer's only view differ?

I really not sure what tool bar your talking about. If you press F1 while
you viewing your presentation a popup menu will appear showing you what all
is avaiable.

The little toolbar in the left hand corner that you are referring to is not
available or supported in the PowerPoint Viewer. That toolbar includes tools,
such as annotation tools, that are not included in Viewer.

If you open the Viewer and then open your presentation, right click on the slide
and select Help. You will find a list and explanation of the limited number of
keyboard shortcuts available.

The Viewer is a free tool for viewing presentations and is intentionally limited
in function.

Bill, Thanks for the follow-up. I am running Office 2003 Professional
Edition. I have completed my first slide show presentation in PP-I'm a newbie
of course. Now, to run the slide show I go SLIDE SHOW then VIEW SHOW. When
the first slide appears, down in the bottom LH corner is the what both
Microsoft and I call the SLIDESHOW TOOLBAR. Microsoft refer to it in "What is
new in 2003." It consists of a back arrow forward arrow a menu icon and a pen
icon. They remain on view for about 6-7 seconds, disappear, then can be
restored by moving the mouse about.
When I view the same presentation using the 2003 viewer this "toolbar" does
not appear. I am not using Macros or a VB add-in. Any ideas as to why this
mysterious toolbar does not appear in the viewer? Denis

Denis

Thanks Michael. Regarding which toolbar, I have given a fuller description in
my reply to Bill. Thanks again for your response and interest. Denis
