How do we turn off automatic data changes

EPM's Project is massive overkill for our needs. EPM would be a terrific
tool if we never saw MS Project. We don't need to schedule our staff's every
waking minute. We only want to identify a team, set a start and finish date,
and record their timesheet hours. We don't want to approve hours, or know
how many are remaining. We use an Infopath intake form to document incoming
projects and populate PWA with various customer identification data. We
combine this data with hours to generate reports. How do we lobotomize EPM?
Does it have a dim-witted relative that can do what we need and nothing more?

There is a way you could accomplish this in MSPS 2007, are you on that
version by any chance?

No. Our IT looked at that last year and determined it wasn't much better for
us than 2003, which is what we have. Please tell me there's a way to set
2003 so that it just accepts the hours our team members input and doesn't
change start or finish dates and doesn't generate error messages. OR, tell
me that Microsoft will modify the program for us (for a fee) to give us 'EPM
Lite', which BTW, would be a big hit. OR, direct me to an existing software
that is what we need. Any help much appreciated.
