How do you export contacts into a file in which you can actually r

I have approx. 2,500 contacts in outlook and would like to have a hard copy
of them in case of a computer failure. How do I export them to a PDF or word
file and be able to read everything that was entered for that contact? I
tried to export them to a excel file but that clearly doesn't work and/or
look nice at all. Headings and titles are all jacked up. Hoping to try and
do this for my calendar also...

Anyone have any ideas????

Most users who want to create a printout of their Contacts will use a mail
merge to Word to do so.

If you do a mail merge though I don't think you can print off all the stuff
within your contacts. For example I have lots of various notes written about
a certain contact in the information area.

Obviously. A printout is a very poor choice for backing up data.
You asked. I answered. Why you would need to print out notes eludes me since
you have to type everything back in anyway if you use a printout to "back
up" data.

And you can include those notes as one of the fields in a merge.

How would a hard copy (i.e., a printed copy) help you in the event of a
failure. You'd spend hours or days reentering all 2,500 contacts. Your
best bet is to make a copy of your PST and store it on an external medium.

in Start, search for *.pst and make sure to use advanced search to include
hidden files.

Their default location is %UserProfile%\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook, which is a hidden folder.

better yet..
If you take your navigation pane into folders view, there are 2 links at the
bottom of the folders. Clicking the link "data file management" will open a
dialog showing you where your data file is. You can also open the
containing folder right from there.
