how do you filter contacts in Outlook for mail merge?

I would like to be able to filter by catagory from Outlook Contacts to Mail
Merge, but the Catagory field is not available.

Do the filtering in Outlook first, with either the By Category view or a
view filter. Then select items and choose Tools | Mail Merge.
