How it's work (identity files)

Denis Gauthier

Hello from Quebec city

I have a user who have some problem with is mail... Some mail doesn't
retreive from the server, some moving (moving a file from a "folder" to
another "folder") doesn't't work.....

So I said : quit entourage, go to ~/Document/Données Utilisateurs Microsoft/
(we have a french version of entourage" ) and put the folder name Identités
Office 2008 to the Desktop.

In the past, when I do that and start Entourage, they ask for create a new
account(they didn't find the main identity) ... But with the 12.1.7 version,
all the mail are there and the account is alive.....???......

Idea Why ? A .plist to delete ?

Tx in advance to all who give me some light

Nothing has changed. Did you restart between moving the Microsoft User Data
folder to the desktop?

From your brief description of the problems, it's not necessary to create a
new Microsoft User Data folder.
Some mail doesn't retreive from the server

If you see this in just one or a handful of folders then right-click or
Control-click that folder, select Folder Properties and click the Empty
button to empty the cache. You can also select the account itself and
empty the cache for all of your folders.

We need more details on this, but it could be a rule problem.

* A likely culprit is the Mailing List Manager (MLM). It's very easy to set
up a MLM rule by accident, when you are marking a message as 'not junk'. The
wording of that dialog is ambiguous to say the least. Check if there is an
MLM entry (look for MLM entries under the tools menu) with the incorrect
destination folder as the target folder. Mailing List Manager rules run
before your other rules.

If you give us more details we could help find out what the problem is so
you don't have to nuke your Microsoft User Data folder to fix the problem.
