Once I put my e mail in a hard drive folder (eml file), I cannot "see" easily who the e mail is from as I can when it's in a folder in Entourage. I did a right click, search on folder, and tried contents, author etc. Even did other and looked around, but I cannot find the trick yet that simply searches from in the header. anyone know? thanks.

This FAQ lists some of the search terms:

Find an Author If you can¹t remember the contents of a file but you know the
name of the person who created it, you can try using the author: keyword. To
look for a document written by your boss, Herbert, enter author:herbert in
the search field. There¹s just one catch: Spotlight will find only files
produced by programs that save this attribute‹Mail, iChat, Word, Excel,
Pages, Numbers, and a few others.

I did a search for author:kevs and found several of your emails.

Thanks Diane, actually I should have called post how to search for eml file.
I moved 300 emails to hard drive. they become eml files. Unortunately, as eml's you don't see what going on anymore. The first and last name that is so visible in Entourage is gone.

I've tried a folder search but can't figure out how get the names of who it's from.

Why not drag these messages into a new Identity for searching? You would
need to leave the Identity open long enough for Spotlight to index it.

Diane, Well the question was is that bogging down Entourage? Having so many emals permanently in the program. Why don't I archive on hardrive, and them just drag them back to Entourage when I need to search?

How many emails are we talking about? What size is your database? IMHO,
dragging them back seems counterproductive. It takes time for Spotlight to
index them. If you really want them out of your database, check out a third
part option.

eMessage Archiver. It uses a free runtime version of FileMaker. Another
option that backs up to FileMaker is Mail to FileMaker Importer. Both are
$15.
