How Secure is my mail from Microsoft Outlook Client until it reaches my SMTP server

My question is, How secure is the content (body) of an e-mail or even
the attachements when it is travelling from my computer (Microsoft
Outlook) to my mail server on the Internet?

How easy or difficult is it to see the contents of my mail while it is
travelling as above?

How easy or difficult is it to see the contents of the attachments in
above cases?

Any experts comments is highly appreciated !!
