You might need to clarify what you need.

CD ROMS are by definition Read Only

Do you mean that you want to secure the file so that it cannot be copied?

Yes. I want to prevent the slides being copied in an editable format.
The powerpoint file is to be published onto multiple CD ROM's and I want to
prevent the images in the slides as well as the slides themselves from being
copied or plagerised.

The images on the slides are my original work so I do not want to see the
slides copied into someone else's powerpoint presentation. I doubt that a
screen capture would project to well however I would have to live with that.I
just want to know how to make the ppt file read only file.
