How soon for my SOUND alerts to come back?

I know this has been discussed regarding the sounds gone missing from
Entourage 2008, but what's the word on that bug being fixed. Sounds
are an important part of my using the application, psychologically
speaking -- and it's a terrible decision on MS's part to just avoid
dealing with it; especially because the problem was first noted in
beta testing.

Software developers will rarely give you a timeline longer than "the
next update" and that's often not the case.

They first need to determine the cause (I don't think Microsoft has
pinned this one down yet), design a fix and then test. This could be
bundled with other fixes that also need to happen. Even if they fixed
and tested this issue by tomorrow the update could be held up by other
fixes.

Some day, hopefully not too far off, we'll be hearing an announcement
that 12.0.1 or a similar update number has been released.
