How to ALLOW ADDITION to but PREVENT DELETION from a design templa

Hi,

Let's say I downloaded a design template (A), made changes to the masters
and then saved it as a design template (B). I don't want others to modify or
delete the changes I made, but I don't mind them making additon to it. In
other words, I want template (B) to behave like the templates we download.

There is no point to protect template (B) with a password because others
cannot add to it without the password. If they are given the password to
make addition, they can also delete the changes I made originally.

Having two copies of (B) in which one copy is static is not something I want.

Is there a way to solve this?

There's not a whole lot you can do if you want to allow changes but not allow
changes.

You might want to save a blank slide as an image and then insert that image
back into your template as a background. (Insert|Image|From File and
Draw|Order|Send to back on the master slide. Or Format|Background|Fill|Fill
Effects|Picture.) This won't completely do what you want, but it might be a
viable workaround.

I saved template (B) as "device independent bitmap," made changes to template
(B) and saved. Then I applied the bitmap image to the changed template (B).
The original look showed. Thanks!

When I used Format - Background ......., I had to check "omit background
graphics from master" to get it work.

No problem using Insert - Object - bitmap image ......

Don't understand what you meant by "Draw - order - send to back on the
master slide."

When I used Format - Background ......., I had to check "omit background
graphics from master" to get it work.

I didn't mention it, but I'd delete the original items since you have them
in an image. That way you won't have to do the "omit background graphics"
thing. Of course, keep a copy of the file complete with the original
elements so you don't have to recreate them if you need to make changes.

Don't understand what you meant by "Draw - order - send to back on the
master slide."

If you don't use Format|Background, you'd use Insert|Picture. Going to
View|Master and then using Insert|Picture puts the pix on top of the
placeholders. You have to go to the Drawing menu, hit Draw|Order|Send to
Back to place the image behind the placeholders on the master.

There is the RnR Protect add-in. It would save the image and put it back in
a new blank presentation, but you'd have to move the image to the master.

want, though.

Thanks for all your help. I learned so much; I wasn't familiar with the
"draw" button on the drawing toolbar. Yes I had to send the image to the
back and I could see the difference now.

I was wondering if there is any add-in that will allow me to create a
template and save it so that it will behave like those we download and I
don't have to go thru the process of saving and reapplying images.

I'm not sure how the downloaded templates work differently than the ones you
create. But I don't think there's an add-in to do whatever it is.
