How to authorize a member to approve some tasks and subtasks?

Let me give an example, I have a proj with task1, subtask11, subtask 12 and
task2. Also, let task1 be a development task with subtask11 and subtask12 as
its child tasks, let task2 be a UI design task. Now I have a development lead
named Bob in charge of task1, also I have Cindy and Daniel to work on
subtask11 and subtask12 respectively. Now I want to authorize Bob to verify
if subtask11 and subtask12 are truely finished. By default, only PM has the
authority to approve the task update, right? How can I authorize Bob to
approve the update of subtask11 and subtask12 but not task2?

In essence, you can't. You can use the task delegation feature to
approximate what you want to do, but it won't work exactly the way you
specify. You can assign Bob to subtask11 and subtask12. Bob can then
delegate subtask11 to Cindy and delete subtask12 to Daniel, and while
delegating the tasks, Bob can specify that he wants to maintain the Lead
Role on the tasks. What this means is that Bob can review the task updates
on those two tasks from Cindy and Daniel. He sees their updates on his own
View My Tasks page, but cannot approve or reject the updates. His only
choice is to contact the resource manually, via phone or e-mail, to tell
them the updates are incorrect and then to correct them. If the updates are
acceptable, Bob simply updates the task updates to you the PM. That's about
the best you can do. Hope this helps.
