I have worked hard to put many, many contacts in my "ENTOURAGE X FOR MAC" ADDRESS BOOK. i know it would be wise to back up the address book, but i can find no clear, step-by-step instructions telling me how to do so.
Can anyone please tell me how to do this, in laymen terms? i am not computer illiterate, and get frustrated when online support documents make me feel dumb.
Thanks for any help

Under File in the menu bar, select Export. There are two ways to save your
data using Export. One is as a tab delimited file. This is a file that Excel
or any spreadsheet should be able to open. The second option is export as an
Entourage archive (.rge) file. You would select only contacts for this
export. An .rge file can only be read by Entourage.

Then there are Sync Services. With Sync Services enabled Entourage will sync
your contacts to Apple Address Book. The only drawback to this is Sync
Services can delete your Entourage contacts if something happened or a wrong
selection was make in Sync Services your data could be erased.

Dragging contacts to your desktop will save your data in individual .vcf
files.

I suggest a combo of exporting as tab delimited AND .rge along with a good
backup regime. This way you are covered. Your contacts can be used in any
mail application with the tab delimited file. It's easy to import the .rge
file into Entourage and the backups (full backup of your Entourage Identity
) can be used in case of any disaster.

I use this method to backup my contacts weekly.
