I have changed my "Name" in the Entourage 12.1.4
Tools/Accounts/Mail and for some reason the header
on my email messages still display the old name.

How do you change the user name in Entourage?

Try quitting and relaunching Entourage.

I quit Ent and even restarted the Intel iMac and it did not
fix the problem. I have the corrected name in the Account
box but that is not the name being sent by Entourage.

Does this have anything to do with my Ent Contacts file
where I have several email addresses under the same name?

Yes, Select the "Me" contact and set it correctly.

Diane,

I am confused... there are two listings for me in my Contacts and
I am not sure which one is the real "Me"

One of the two contacts for me in the Contacts has an iMac under
the name and it has a face icon under the "Contact Types"

I changed the first name on the one I have been using and Entourage
still sends with the old first name.

How can I set up Entourage to use two different first names?

You can decide which of the contacts is actually you by highlighting it and
choosing "This Contact Is Me" from the Contact menu.

You may want to also delete the spurious entry.

I hate having to beat a dead horse but when I select the contact I think
is me, the "This Contact Is Me" button under the Contact menu is dimmed
and cannot be selected.

How can it be made active?

Is the contact in question on Exchange?? The Me contact must be local.
Make sure the contact is on your local address book and then you shoudl
be able to set it as "Me"

If it's dimmed out, this indicates it's the "me" contact.

It is interesting that I have two "me" contacts that are both dimmed
out. I will run with what I have and see what happens. I have a
different user first name for the each of the two "me" contacts and
I think it working.

I do not use Exchange. Both of my Me's are in my Entourage Contacts and
both are dimmed

I'm starting to suspect a corruption in your database. You might want to
relaunch pressing the Option key down to rebuild the identity,

I hope it is not hosed. Before I use the rebuild command I have send
Diane some picture examples and will wait for her feedback.

Each of the two "Me" cards need to be associated with a specific
E-Mail address. The combining of all addresses under one user
name was the problem.

My primary E-Mail now uses my full name and all other addresses for
amateur radio, etc. are associated with the short form of my name.

I think the problem is Fixed! End of Shaggy Dog Story

To shed some more light on this, read this article:

This bug is really a new feature in SP1 (The Entourage Help Blog)

..... If the sender is not in your own contacts then Entourage will display
the name as it was received from the sender.

It would have helped if this "new feature" was documented in
in the SP1 read me. The enemy of good is better and it was
good before they made it better in SP1 and did not spread the
word. To me the new feature is a bug.
