how to close a file in Microsoft Office Picture Manager?

MS Office (2003) Picture Manager--I always have to re-boot after using MS
Office Picture Manager for awhile because there is no way to 'close' each
picture I work on; so eventually the task manager shows many many many
instances of 'OIS' being open at the same time--therefore the program stops
responding. How can I 'close' each picture, or 'file' before beginning on
the next one, or before choosing to 'exit' the program, in order that I may
keep enough memory free that it won't be necessary to totally shut down &
reboot every time I have used the program to work with more than 15 or so
photos? Note: this is for Office 2003--under 'Tools'--'Microsoft Office
Picture Manager'

On the bottom of the Picture Shortcuts task bar there is a link called "unsaved
edits."
When you click this your worked on images will come up, You can right-click and
either discard the changes or return to the "getting started" task pane, click the
export button and save each one.
You might consider getting some more memory.

Hello Mary,
I do, of course, save, etc...each picture--just as you've suggested...the
problem lies in sequencially working on several photos, even though I can
export them, etc...there is no 'close' option, per se, after working with
each one. If I merely 'exit' the 'OIS' in task manager does not close & it
accumulates many instances thereby causing an eventual 'freeze'. I think I
have plenty of memory--more than a gig, and I make sure I'm not running
(actively) any other programs while working with the MS Picture manager.
Therefore I think there must be a way to specifically 'close' each photo,
prior to exiting (after exporting, etc.) I'm talking about closing it within
MS Picture Manager--of course--not from within another photo program. Any
ideas? Any help will be appreciated.

Map,
The Picture Manager is not the best editing program to use. There are so many better
ones available, some are free. How about your graphics driver, is it current?
Might try
http://www.eecs.wsu.edu/paint.net/index.html
or
MS Paint or maybe a program that came with one of your devices. Most scanners have an
editing program.
