How to control list templates with VBA

Some of the web pages that explain list numbering mention that the only way
to really control list templates is to use VBA, and get away from the awful
"galleries" implementation. But after they tell me this, they don't point to
a page that shows how to do it. Is there a page showing this? Thanks.

List numbering is more stable in recent versions of Word. Setting them up
according to the instructions at
http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/numbering/OutlineNumbering.html should work
just fine. If you are using Word 2007, post back for detailed instructions.

I forgot to mention that http://word.mvps.org has never offered a "complete"
set of instructions on how to apply numbering via VBA; there was some code,
and still is, but most of it was in (old) newsgroup threads.
