How to create a "custom connection string" using OLEDB in Frontpag

Jim

I am trying to connect to an ASA 9.02 database to create a data view. The
OLE Provider is registered on the server that SharePoint is running on. I
get an error that the list of databases can not retrieved. Have checked KB
831092. There is no details there. I think my main question is does OLEDB
connection work for any DB ? I have checked various sites and have only seen
problems reported, no fixes.

The authors of ASA must provide the data connector

I was able to get the custom connection string to work. A combination of
getting the correct dlls from Sybase registered on my PC and setting the
OLEDB provider name enabled !! There only seems to be a way to select one
table to pull data from ? Can I put my own SQL in the connection using
joins, etc. ??

Thanks

Yes, as long as you know how to write the correct ASP/VBScript.
