How to Delete a BAD attachment

I signed up with Cingular and they sent a large .pdf file that Entourage
2004 11.2.3 running under OSX 10.4.6 could not open. Each time I tried
to open the Welcome to Cingular message, I got the ever spinning disc.

The only escape from from the spinning disc was to force quit Entourage
from the OSX Force Quit utility. I tried restarting the G4 and even
used the Verify the database trick by starting Ent with option key down.

Yes, I let the Cingular representative know how much I appreciated the
bad file. They sent me a replacement and I managed to get it from web
mail before Ent popped the server. The replacement was okay.

In Entourage how can you delete a message that you cannot open? If I
select the message I get the spinning beach ball.

I don't know how to extract a bad message from the Ent database.

Hi,

to delete a corrupted email, disable the preview pane first and then select
the email and delete it. There seems to be something wrong with the PDF
file, and Entourage cannot display it, yet it will try to do so if you have
the preview pane enabled.

Michel,

I do not use the preview mode. Mine has been set to NONE for as long as
I have used Ent.

I finally managed to select (not open) the message and deleted the WHOLE
thing. What a pain!

Another way to handle this is to first select the message above or
below then shift click to also select the offending message. Now you
can delete (both messages).

If you need to recover the martyr message, dig it out of Deleted Items
before emptying the trash.
