How to determine why an add-in won't load on a remote computer

Hello;

Sorry for the wide distribution but I am stuck on these 4 items and
have googled and searched msdn and microsoft.com - all to no avail.

This is for a Word add-in written in C# and using the
IDTExtensibility2 approach (ie not VSTO).

Are there any suggestions for determining why an add-in won't load on
a remote computer? This is a case where the user of that computer does
not have Visual Studio, is not a programmer, and is 2,000 miles away.

I use the COM add-in shim and it is either not loading the shim or the
shim is not loading my add-in. But I can't figure out any way to find
out what is going on as it never gets to my code.

I had him try installing it using the COM Add-ins... dialog and he is
able to select the COM shim dll but when he presses OK, it does not
show in the list.

It does install here fine on three different computers.

So what is the approach to use in this case? How do I find out why
Word won't load an add-in?

thanks - dave
