How to display employees hours sumed to a Manager

In the Resource Usage view, I can see the number of hours all my resources
are working. Is there a way to set it up somewhere to see the hours and
people who report to another? Such as:

+ Joe 150 hrs
Tom 25 hrs
Mary 75 hrs
Lou 50 hrs
Thanks

Project doesn't have a "heirarcharchal" view of resources. You could
easily calcuate the hours a particular group of people worked in a
given amount of time, but you couldn't show it the way you propose.

Thanks.

How would the calculation of the hours work? Right now were just listing
and adding which is extremely time consuming.

Jzis-

It should be possible to use the resource grouping field in the resource
dictionary to simulate a one-level resource hierarchy.

In your example, you would have three resources (Tom, Mary, and Lou) and all
of them would be in the group "Joe".
You would then create a report that groups hours by this resource group.

I'm not sure HOW you would create that report in Microsoft Project, but I
know it can be done in my company's add-on reporting software for Microsoft
Project ("DecisionReports for Microsoft Project").
(I would be happy to work with you directly to get the report you need -
just send an email.)

In your resource sheet use one of the text fields to capture who the
resource reports to. After assignments you can display the Resource Work
table that shows the total work by resource. You can thrn go to the Project
menu, Grouping option, and group on the text field you you chose to use. It
will sum the totals by supervisor on the spot.
