How to draw a sphere in Power Point?

I've drawn the circle and tried the 3D effects with no success. I want to
draw a sphere, not a hockey puck! :)

As you have seen, PPT drawing objects tend to be fairly primitive. However
with that said, a sphere is a circle with lighting and shading to give the
appearance of a sphere. Instead of 3D effects, experiment a bit with
filling the circle with a two color gradient. It may be just what you are
looking for. Failing that, you'll need to create it in a dedicated imaging
editing application and import it to PPT.

PowerPoint isn't a 3D application and the drawing tools are limited. You'll
have much better luck using a 3D graphics program or an image editor with
extended capabilities, like Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro.

But, in PowerPoint you can give your circle a two color gradient fill with a
shading style of "From center" (color1 = the ligher color), add a shadow if you
want, and it'll sort of look three dimensional.

If you need to use 3D objects in PPT, the Perspector add-in is the easiest
solution. I have used it many times for creating spheres. Not free, but very
nifty to use. http://www.perspector.com/
