How to Eliminate "relative dates" in email folders?? (the switchisn't working)

I have just migrated from Windows to Mac (yay!). Been working with
entourage for a couple weeks now, and the one annoying thing I can¹t get rid
of is the ³Today², ³Yesterday², ³Tuesday², ³last week² ³last month²
categorization of my emails in all my email folders (inbox, etc.). I have
tried checking and unchecking the option in [Preferences>General>Use
relative dates in lists], but this has no effect. Would really appreciate
help, as this makes reading and scanning email folders horribly inefficient
and reduces the # of emails on a page.

Can¹t say I love the lack of customizability of so many interface aspects,
functions, etc., but worth it give how nice it is working with the mac.

Thanks!

What you are talking about is "grouping"... you've got grouping turned
on, which is ALWAYS by relative dates. The preference checkbox that
you've been checking refers to the little date next to the sender's
name (if you're looking at preview window on the right).

What you want to do is TURN OFF grouping by pulling down from
"View-->Arrange By-->Show in Groups"
