How to enlarge message display font size in Entourage?

I am using Entourage (from MS Office 2004 for Mac) on my iMac G5 20" (with
OSX 10.4.7). When I am reading messages, I find the font size extremely
small, and have not found any way to make it bigger. It looks like you can
specify the font size when you're composing a message, but I don't see how to
do that when you're reading/viewing a message received.

Any help will be appreciated!

You don't mention if these are plain text or HTML messages. If these are
HTML messages from a PC user then see this rule:

You can also increase font size under Edit->Increase Font Size.

Some basics: Fonts can be set for plain text and HTML. The settings for
plain text only affect what YOU see and not what the sender receives. The
receiver will see the messages with THEIR preferences. When setting plain
text, choose what you like. This is a great feature, especially if you like
larger fonts for easy viewing. However, the font and size you choose for
HTML messages (proportional) do reflect the default font for outgoing HTML
mail and is the what recipient will see.

Diane,

Many thanks; this was very helpful. I've implemented the rule you suggested,
and it seems to work. I don't use Categories, so I don't have one called
"Windows," but that didn't seem to matter.

Previously, I'd tried to increase the font size on messages I was composing,
and somehow couldn't figure out how to do it. When I tried it again just now,
I figured it out. I was thrown off because I expected to be able to choose
the Font Size or Font by clicking in those boxes, but nothing happened when I
did that. Then I tried clicking on the "ab-ab" icon on the left; I didn't
realize that was what toggled on HTML mode. I'd assumed--mistakenly, I
guess--that I was composing messages in HTML by default.

Anyway, your reply helped by giving me some extra background, and prompting
me to try things again.

Glad the info helped you.

Let me encourage you to try Categories. It's one of the most useful features
in Entourage. Using Categories with Rules can greatly reduce the number of
rules you have and helps with organizing your Address Book entries.

Use categories instead of entering individual addresses; you then have less
criteria, making the rule run faster, as well as easing the ability to add
new addresses just assign contacts to the category.

Diane,

OK, I'll try it. Thanks for the suggestion. I guess I should also look at
the Entourage Help page to see what the other rules suggetions are.

If you need plain text messages to appear in a larger size as well, you can
set that in Entourage > Preferences. In the left pane, under "General
Preferences", click "Fonts". Next to "Plain text messages (fixed-width)",
you can set a font & size for messages you send & receive in plain text.
The advantage of plain text is that messages are viewed in the person's
preferred font. You can also set a default size for HTML messages.
