How do I export my calendar events? I couldn't find an export option
or a plist file anywhere. I am transferring files from Jaguar to
Panther, which probably makes things unnecessarily difficult, but if
anyone can help I'd appreciate it.
Why do you need to export them? If you are simply trying to back up your
Entourage data before moving to another computer (?) it's simplest, by far,
to do it all at once. Entourage stores all its data for each identity in one
single database, not in separate calendar, mail, etc. files. Your identity
folders of files (don't break up the folders) are here:
~/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office X Identities/
where "~/" means your user's Home folder : Hard Disk/Users/[username]/
If you're used to only having one identity, it's the "Main Identity"
subfolder, or whatever you may have renamed your identity to, within Office
X Identities folder. That's the folder (or folders, if you have more than
one identity) you want to export and then move into the equivalent location
on your new computer. But if you're already using Entourage in the new
computer and don't want to lose recent data, name the identity folders by
different names so you don't wipe out the newer folder by "replacing". Then
you have the task of merging the databases.
If you need to do that (merge) then, yes, you would need to be able to
export data from one identity and import it into the other. (Which you could
in fact do right now before leaving the old computer, true. But it would be
a lot faster to export just the new recent data form the new identity.) You
can do that with my shareware scripts
Export-Import Entourage X ,available here:
MacScripter.net <
http://macscripter.net/scriptbuilders/>
You can export just calendar events, if you wish, or tasks, contacts, notes,
etc. etc. complete with categories. If you had only a few events you needed
to export you could just drag them to the desktop instead, then drag them
into the other identity, but you'll lose categories and some fields that
way.
