How to get chinese fonts in excel97

Hello
I have windows xp with east asian language files installed and all chinese
code pages I found. Still excel 97 PRO SR-2 does not regognize chinese.
FOnt is arial and shown in excel2003 but not in excel 97 ?
Anybody could help?
