how to get images out of word without losing resolution

Hi Mark,

If you save a copy of the document in HTML, you can tell Word what
resolution to save the graphics at, via File|Save As Web Page|Tools|Web
Options|Pictures.

Another method is to copy the pictures individually from the Word document
and paste them to the desktop. When you do that, you'll be prompted for a
filename etc.

Yet another method is to copy the pictures individually from the Word
document and paste them into a graphics program (eg Paint) before saving.

In each case, what would also help is to enlarge all pictures to full size
before processing.

Cheers

I've taken some large screen shots and pasted them into word, but when they
are compressed into the confines of the word doc you can't read them. I would
like to get them out of word without losing their resolution. Any ideas?

Thanks

If you save your document as HTML, the images will be saved separately as
GIFs. For future reference, at least with professional documents it's worth
managing your graphics separately, even if you intend ultimately to embed
them in the document. That is, instead of pasting the screen shot directly
into the document, paste it into a graphics program and save it from there.
Then link or embed that file into Word. Set the finished size and resolution
of the image in the graphics program before you save. Avoid doing any sizing
or manipulation of the graphic once it's in Word -- a) Word isn't very good
at it, and b) it tends to blow out the size of the document.
